Product Workflows

Project Case Study :: Documentation
Case Study Overview

Breaking down a complex product is no easy task to communicate. Sourcing the correct mockups for different states and user privileges can be a challenge as well.

I use workflows for multiple purposes:

  • Ideate the click-through interactions
  • Create a physical map for the structure
  • Test out if the  “Four Click Rule” applies
  • Used as a compass for engineers to find the correct mockups
  • Sprint planning around certain flows

This case study displays documentation of my workflow process

The Four Click Rule

USER STORY:
As a manager, I want to look at my lowest Q12 Score, so I can know what I need to improve.

I came up with the "Four Click Rule" as a way to ensure our core user goals were met within the rule. When it wasn't initially possible, I found ways to sneak them in different ways that could or could not need a click-through to get to the information, but would also try to keep it lower than four.

The Workflows

I use these workflows as physical clickthrough states on Adobe Xd prototypes so engineers and partners can easily find the screen they are looking for.

Results & Outcomes

These workflows are crucial to my process before designing and gaining quick buy-in from stakeholders.
Another great advantage to repurpose these as mockup click-through states allows engineers and partners to be self-reliant in finding the right screens – they used to come to me and now they don’t as much anymore.
